Get those engines started! The 54th running of the Daytona 500 is February 26, 2012. Nicknamed "The Great American Race," the Daytona 500 is the biggest, most expensive, and most prestigious race in America. With a long history of heart-wrenching defeats, come from behind victories, famous duels, photo finishes and top-of-the-line entertainment, the race is one of the most anticipated in American sports. No NASCAR race would be complete without tailgating, so grab some friends and get in the spirit before you head out to watch Jeff Gordon, Danica Patrick, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and other house-hold names compete for the title of NASCAR's most grueling race.
NASCAR novices and enthusiasts alike will delight in the week-long Daytona Speedweek leading up to the historical race. Events include the Budweiser Shootout, Gatorade Duel and the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Another event that can't be missed is the Sprint Fanzone where fans can view pre-race entertainment and have their picture taken on the famed start and finish line.

ShareFriday, June 18, 2010 is National Flip Flop Day, and The Shores Resort & Spa is celebrating by collecting shoes for the charitable organization Soles4Souls. Guests who step up to donate new or gently-worn shoes for the event can enjoy a number of special giveaways and foot-friendly offers at the award-winning beachfront resort.
Everyone who donates a pair of shoes (or makes a $10 donation) will receive a pair of fashionable red-and-white Signature Shores Flip Flops, plus a coupon for 20 percent off a soothing pedicure at Indulge, the resort’s on-site, full-service spa. Guests can then either flaunt their trendy new flip flops “as is” or join in a fun “Fanciest Flip Flop” contest. A special decorating station will be set up on Ocean Terrace from 4 to 7 p.m., where guests can embrace their inner beach bum and accessorize their new flip flops to create their own unique, flashy footwear. The winner will receive a complimentary dinner for two at Azure. Fueling the fun will be specialty flip flop frozen cocktails and non-alcoholic smoothies during the “Flip Flop your Attitude” happy hour, for which a portion of proceeds will go to Soles4Souls.
