World’s Most Famous Beach: Daytona

The Marine Science Center
Provides guests an up-close look at sea turtle rehabilitation in the ‘turtle hospital’, a variety of fish, turtles and other sea life in aquariums, bird sanctuary, classroom lab plus a long boardwalk that leads to a bird observation tower. The boardwalk winds its way through a nature trail filled with native plants. Guided tours of the Marine Science Center are available or visitors can take a self-guided tour.
Ponce Inlet Lighthouse
The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Station was built when the area was still known as Mosquito Inlet. After years of restoration, the Lighthouse Station now stands as one of the best preserved in the nation. The Lighthouse is open to the public daily at 10:00am and admission is $5 for adults and $1.50 for children 11 and under.
The Peabody Auditorium
The Peabody has led the way as a venue where stars of the world of entertainment and the arts have attracted audiences numbered in the tens of thousands. Named in honor of benefactor Simon J. Peabody, who donated the land where the auditorium was built, the new Peabody was dedicated October 6, 1949 with a concert featuring the United States Navy Band.

The Daytona Beach Boardwalk is a combination of many family operated businesses – Joyland Amusement Center, Mardi Gras Fun Center, Pizza King, Lisa’s Gift Shop, Michael’s on the Beach, Zeno’s Boardwalk Sweet Shop, and Phillip’s Gift Shop – all located right on the beach!
Daytona Beach Parasail
Located in gorgeous Ponce Inlet, Florida, Daytona Beach Parasail is one of the most trusted and successful parasail companies operating in Florida. Flights start at 600 feet and go all the way up to 1,200 feet! The views are absolutely incredible.
Daytona 500 Experience
While the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competes 38 times a year across the country, race fans can always get a taste of the fastest growing sport in America at DAYTONA 500 EXPERIENCE, “The Official Attraction of NASCAR.” Packed with a variety of high-energy thrills from performing a pit stop on an actual Sprint Cup Series race car to motion simulators and the Coca-Cola 3D IMAX Theatre, Daytona 500 Experience gives an up close and personal look of racing at NASCAR’s most storied venue – Daytona International Speedway.
Richard Petty Driving Experience
Experience Daytona International Speedway’s 2.5 mile track at speeds of more than 150 mph! Choose between a personal driving experience or a “ride Along” program.
Enjoy this family-focused facility, which offers fun for all ages – including Grand Prix go-kart racing, three miniature golf courses, laser tag, a carousel, high-ballocity indoor play structure, and one of the largest arcades in Daytona Beach. The Lagoon’s waterpark has over 10 water slides, a 500,000-gallon wave pool, a tubing river and a water-play structure complete with slides and a 1,000-gallon dumping bucket!
Cracker Creek is a pure nature preserve that will take you back to “Old Florida”. Perfect for many recreational activities like canoeing, paddle boarding and hiking. Small boat rentals or guided trips are available to explore this rare waterway that remains as one of a few unspoiled streams in Florida.
Sugar Mill Ruins
The sugar mill, once part of the Cruger-dePeyster Plantation, was built in the early 19th century. This 17-acre historic site contains the ruins of the coquina sugar factory that was raided during a war between the Seminole Indians and the United States.
A motorcycle enthusiast’s dream come true! Check out 109,000 sq. feet of new and used Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. The huge showroom also features merch and accessories for the whole family. Motorcycle rentals are also available. A wide variety of specialty shops, pizza, hot dogs and ice cream is also available.

Quick Day Trips
St Augustine, The Nation’s Oldest City
St. Augustine, known as The Ancient City, is located just 50 miles north of us (about a 1-hour drive). Be sure to plan a day of strolling St. Augustine’s delightful historic district, with its cobblestone streets, quaint cafes, bars, unique shops, and bed and breakfast inns. Experience the beauty of an early morning that slowly comes alive with locals and tourists setting out on foot to explore significant landmarks including the Castillo de San Marcos, Lightner Museum, Flagler College, and Fort Matanzas.
Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex
Described as the greatest space adventure on earth, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is the only place in the world where you can see the real space shuttle Atlantis, touch a moon rock, meet a veteran NASA astronaut, tour a NASA spaceflight facility and get an up-close view of a real Saturn V moon rocket all in the same day! Arrive early for this full-day experience to make the most of your visit. The visitor complex opens at 9 am every day.
Orlando Attraction Area
Just over an hour away and you are in the “Theme Park Capital of the World”! Spend a day at The Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, Sea World and the area’s newest attraction LegoLand Resort and return back to The Shores for a night’s rest and wake up to another sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean.
